#10: Editor/compositor Kevin Johnson

By Joey  //  Conversation  //  No Comments

Kevin Johnson!  While he was still in college, Kevin interned with my company, and he was good out of the gate. He was a fast editor, good sense of pacing, style, able to commit to cuts, throw in some composite work… just make a good video.  After Kevin graduated, he quickly got hired by  Interface Media Group in D.C. After five years doing a variety of short and long form editing and compositing, Kevin made the move to the Travel Channel’s promo department.

Kevin’s on Twitter and has some examples of his work on his Vimeo site.

#9 Editor/director/DP Dave Gorrie

By Joey  //  Conversation  //  No Comments

From starting out in music management, to editor at the Discovery Channel family of channels, to senior staff editor helping build a boutique post/production house, then starting his own post/production house, there’re few creative situations Dave Gorrie hasn’t been in.  Dave has been an acquaintance for over a decade, someone I always enjoy talking with about projects, process, or whatever else crops up.

In addition to his post experience, Dave directs, DPs, produces, works with clients during pre-production, now through his own company Red Apple Post. Dave is on Twitter, Red Apple Post is on Twitter; check ‘em out!

#7: Editor & producer Rachel Vassey

By Joey  //  Conversation  //  No Comments

I’ve gotten to know Fresh TV’s Rachel Vassey over the past year. I’ve visited the Fresh TV offices in D.C., been able to follow along with all the fun stuff they do off their blog and through Twitter, and been envious of their James Beard Award. Go like Fresh on Facebook too. Fresh works with clients from development through production, and all the parts in-between.

Rachel’s path to being a boutique production shop owner/producer/editor was a natural progression after setting out to do her own thing in freelancing. Take a listen to her DIY success story.  And keep in mind we’re both in various stages of headcold, my thanks again to Rachel for her time during the work day AND feeling sick.
