#8: Marketing manager Andy Perrine
Andy Perrine. Former ad exec, current marketing manager. Andy talks about his career path from New York advertising executive to starting an agency with a particular POV in a small rural town and some major milestones along the way. I knew he’d had a varied and higher-profile career, I didn’t know how varied and high profile.
I first got to know Andy through non-profit projects, and then through his work with James Madison University helping to build their brand locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally. He’s one of the people I wanted to have on when I first started thinking about the show, and the most re-scheduled interview due to my work and personal schedule, so I’m doubly happy to put out this conversation with Andy Perrine. See more of his work here.

#7: Editor & producer Rachel Vassey
I’ve gotten to know Fresh TV’s Rachel Vassey over the past year. I’ve visited the Fresh TV offices in D.C., been able to follow along with all the fun stuff they do off their blog and through Twitter, and been envious of their James Beard Award. Go like Fresh on Facebook too. Fresh works with clients from development through production, and all the parts in-between.
Rachel’s path to being a boutique production shop owner/producer/editor was a natural progression after setting out to do her own thing in freelancing. Take a listen to her DIY success story. And keep in mind we’re both in various stages of headcold, my thanks again to Rachel for her time during the work day AND feeling sick.

#6: Audio engineer Evan Sonderegger
Continuing to go to the “I knew you from my first professional job” well, this week I’m talking with audio engineer Evan Sonderegger. Evan and I started in small market TV, he just out of college, me a little bit more out of college. Evan was a music industry guy in a TV production world,so someone who actually knew how to run an audio board. From TV Evan went to syndicated talk radio in Washington D.C., and then transitioned into his current job, Audio engineer for “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band.

#5: Media producer Matt Uvena
Matt Uvena is a media producer based in Washington D.C. Matt works at Interface Media Group overseeing all aspects of production from concept to development to production to final delivery. His projects range from corporate and training video to documentary to long form and short form online video, as well as some original broadcast pilots.
I’ve gotten to know Matt the last few years when he routinely talks with students, leading discussions on working in media production, and, an often overlooked topic, the BUSINESS side of the creative business. Matt started out in an entry level position and quickly figured out that Interface could use a producer, a role that interested him.
Matt is on Twitter @MattUvena; view some of Matt’s work here.

#4: Live TV news director Frank Corbett
This episode is a conversation with live TV news director Frank Corbett. Frank talks about the day-to-day working life of a freelance director in the largest TV market in the United States: New York City. From working mainly with two different clients, MSNBC and New York One, Frank gets to experience an almost entirely automated work environment to a bustling “newsroom” of activity.
Frank talks about his path into TV (he had no real interest), the stations he’s worked in in his relatively short career, and what it’s like to be one of the younger director in cable news.
