#3: Photographer Casey Templeton

By Joey  //  Conversation  //  No Comments

Photographer Casey Templeton.  Go look at his work before you listen.  Seriously.

Casey is a commercial and advertising photographer.  He shoots for a wide variety of clients including Apple, National Geographic, the New York Times, and The Martin Agency. While in college he was named the best college photographer in the nation. Casey is aggressive for his clients, constantly moving, making sure he’s focused {sorry} on the goal. He’s a mentor, a student, and a heck of a nice guy.

We talk about how he got started, if gear matters, the business side of having a creative business, and more. Follow Casey  on Twitter @CaseyTempleton and  like Casey Templeton Photography on Facebook.

This is In Production… finally?

By Joey  //  Blog  //  No Comments

Welcome to In Production, conversations with people making things.

In Production is something I’ve been wanting to try for a couple years, and finally took the plunge.  There’re a couple of shows that inspired me to get things moving finally, but really, it’s always been about that moment after you wrap a shoot or finish a show or get out of a workshop or are overloaded with the endorphin rush from the gym that you go “Man.  I want that again.”

Not to sound too precious about it, by any stretch.  I’m hoping you have a good time listening to some working professionals and how they got to where they are, what they’re doing, and where they’re looking to go. The goal is to get a diverse line up: photo, video, audio, voice over, writing, print, Web, comics, radio, podcast, live performance… someone making something and some time to talk about it.

So far, I’m not very good at my end of the talking.  If you listen, the people on the other end, they’re really good, full of information and experience. If I hadn’t just started recording, then committed to a site, then committed to having to figure out the Word Press back end, I would’ve waited another couple years without trying.  Failing publicly is not something I’m very good at, but once I get started I try to improve pretty quickly.

Special thanks to Doug, Ben , Jeremy, and William and Matt for their help in making this actually happen. And thanks for listening, I’ll keep trying to make this better.
